Human Nature

Part Two

Each human being is a unique creation having two elements to its structure, the first element is the physical body which gives us our carnal nature that ties us to the earth, that brings out the animal in us, the negative dark side sometime referred to as the fallen nature; and the second element is God divine spiritual nature, the positive good side in us which reflects the likeness and image of God whenever we show righteous love, mercy and forgiveness. It is this divine nature that comes from God that animates raw earthly material into a live organic living person, and once this has happen then we are given a conscious immortal soul that reflects the love and beauty of the Creator. Angels do not have souls like men and after the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, man nature changed, becoming more in tuned with his carnal nature instead of his intellectual spiritual nature. Let us review briefly the definition of these two types of nature that play such an important role in our life.

Definition:

Carnal Nature: Unconverted men are so called carnal “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? I Cor 3:3. "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7. Enjoyments that minister to the wants and desires of man's animal nature are so called carnal Romans 15:27 also read I Cor 9:11. The ceremonial of the Mosaic law is spoken of as "carnal," because it related to things outward, the bodies of men and of animals, and the purification of the flesh Hebrews 7:16 ; 9:10. This is the negative and dark side of man nature. The number one sin in a carnal nature is the lust of the flesh.

Spiritual Nature: With the new age movement that started in the 60’s the definition can have many meanings today, but I will keep it within the realm of religion. To a human being to develop a spiritual nature is to love God and become re-created in personality and character. However, traditionally speaking, spirituality refers to a process of re-formation of the personality to live a life according to God's will; a higher level of conscious existence that is in tuned to reflect God’s likeness and image. This is the positive and good side of man nature.

The great Questions of life:

The great question that is on everyone mind one time or another in their life is on human nature. “Why do some men act like wild beasts doing all kinds of evil with out conscious while others men become great heroes?” “What make a man betray his friends while other men will sacrifice their life for a stranger they do not know?”

How would you answer these questions?

In those people who follow after the carnal nature, they will have desires for the following things in their life: lust of the flesh for their own pleasures, and their lust for power over others and to control events. These are unhappy people, unhappy inside, because they never got what they wanted when they were young little children.

Within each of us the Human nature refers to the distinguishing characteristic that includes our ways of thinking, how we feel and the type of action we will express; which all of us tend to have naturally, independently of the influence of culture or religion. Throughout our life as we grow, we become educated, and we have various life experiences that will direct us into which of the two natures I have listed above, the carnal or the spiritual that will become the dominating factor that will influence our daily actions. Remember at any time you have the ability to change your nature, from one into the other.

Example: let say that we have chosen the carnal nature and after living a life of corruption, evil, crime, and lust of the flesh, we become aware of our sins against God the Creator and in shame we start to hate this type of life and we want something better, more stable so we turn to a more happier and balance life, that is normal and spiritual. We start going to Church every week, we joined the pastor weekly study group, and we pray everyday, involve our selves in Church activities and find great joy doing good deeds; the end result, we are living a more happier life in God love.

Within the structure of the likeness and image of God comes the responsibility of freedom of choice and we can chose which nature we will allow to become part of our very being. Also in this structure God has given us the ability of creative thought and the power of reasoning, to think thing out, understand right from wrong, good and evil, love and hate so we can make wise choices.

How we grow up is very important and what is involved plays an important role such as; what we are exposed to, what we see and hear from family and friends, what we are told by third party people, what we read and most of all what we experience in our life as we grow up that will develop our inner core of belief that will dictate how we think, feel, and act. The bad, unstable, hardship and negative experiences and the lack of a balance normal family life will creative a carnal nature person who involves him or her self with drugs, crime, lust of the flesh etc, and turns out to be an unhappy person that society feels is dangerous and should be put away.

Then we have a person who has a normal family life, one male father figure and one female mother figure, with a balance family life where both parent involved themselves with their children. Teaching them right from wrong, the difference between good and evil, educating them about the ways of our society and being involved with weekly worship and church activities. Here you are instilling in them all the positive and good things in life, making them a productive member of our society; one who loves God very much and has a strong spiritual life.

However, the two above scenario have no guarantee that it will turn out just as I have explained. The person with a happy positive up bringing can still turn out with a carnal nature all because of the bad element (people) he or she has chosen as friends and these people have a strong influence over their thinking. There is a lot of psychology going on within the human mind that is acted out in our nature and that describes who we are and what type of person we are.

Basic Instincts:

From basic instincts comes the need to survive, the need for the material things that provide for a comfortable life, the need for respect and love from having these things (pride & vanity). If we are unable to obtain these needs through normal and legal means set up by God and our society as active and productive citizens of society; once we reach our tolerance level and cross over the line from a spiritual nature to a Carnal nature we begin to lie, steal, and even kill to obtain what others have.

The first sign of a carnal nature is selfishness the self is more important than the other, and they will do anything to make sure the self gets what wants, not what it needs but what it wants. Its this basic instincts for survival or self preservation of the canal nature that make the man or woman betray their friends to save their own life or betray their co-worker so they get the promotion. Through a spiritual nature our intellect and power of reasoning is what helps control that basic instinct and do what we know is right or noble and this is what makes us heroes. God is love, God is good, and to see love and good in the world is to be awaken unto the Lord; There is no greater love than when a man lay down his life so another life can live and this becomes an unselfish act of love.

Ideology:

During World War II many war crimes were committed against humanity where hundreds of thousands of people, mostly Jews, lost their lives and it was because these Nazi leaders all believed in an idea of manmade origin and set aside or abandon the divine moral ideology of life that came from God. They were the pure master race of mankind and thought to cleanse the world of imperfect human beings. These Nazi SS men had there fun lusting after the flesh by introducing a master race program of super human by talking the young select German women of breeding age of 18-23 to give themselves over to these SS officer for breeding to bring forth children for the new master race; no marriage, no love, no God, just be matched up with a partner and go to bed and breed.

This ideology is still in practice today in our society, not for breeding purposes but for the lust of the flesh and they are called sex partners, married or single does not matter, no marriage, no love, no God, just sex. The pleasure of sex is being abused and the human dignity degrade, dehumanized to the canal natures of animals for sexual pleasures, for self pleasure, the self again playing out the role of the carnal nature. The sanctity of the body and spirit tossed aside for the self gratification for sexual pleasures.

We are All God’s Children

We are all creatures created by God and we are all Children of God, man or woman, rich or poor, master or servant, good or evil; we all are endowed with God Spirit that gives us life. This spirit is our spiritual DNA that makes us God children, and we all have the likeness and image of God, thus we are his children (Gen.1:26).

Conclusion

Why anyone would chose the carnal nature and suffers the pain of its benefits with no hope of an after life when you can have a better life in the light and love of God with the great promise of eternal life, immortality with God.
